What is it they say.... "No rest for the wicked!!"
After moving in to our fixer-upper some 4yrs ago, we're only now getting around to starting to get the inside of the house in to some better shape than we moved in.
We spend the first few months getting the garden in shape so atleast 1/2pint could have an open space to play, but now it's all hands on deck as we start to change out the carpets.
One of the joys of ripping up old carpet in an old house is the anticipation of what might be lying beneath. I was really hoping for some Parquet flooring that could just be sanded back on varnished, but my luck doesn't stretch that far. Instead we had some old style plastic, tile effect brown on brown flooring. If that doesn't scream 1960s/70s I don't know what does.
With a few cuts of a Stanley knife, and a few lengths of cord, the carpet was bundled and 1/2pint and I took it to the local recycling centre.
He deserves a good rest and a sit down afterwards. He's worked hard bless him... But that's just the start, tomorrow I'm getting him out on the roller and he's painting the walls, ceiling and skirting boards before the new carpet goes down on Monday.
