flick a light switch and the power comes on.
have you ever asked your kids the question about where that comes from, where power comes from and how it gets to where we are. what makes that power, what does it take to make that power, how much it costs, why we cannot see it.
take this course now, https://skl.sh/2fRX61O
data, is very similar to power. it's the process of the up and down of everything we do in the digital world. just reading this text took a process of me uploading this text via my keyboard and clicking on save draft to move my text up into the internet, the data stream allowed that to happen. i was moving invisible to our eye information into the cloud.
we need an open conversation about data and our kids.
they need to have an idea, a rough outline, a barometer of how things 'work' in the digital sphere. i believe their futures depend on it, we have to be brand advocates to our children when it comes to teaching them about information and data, how it works, where it comes from, how it's made and ultimately how to cross reference that information.
in this course then. . .
- do you kids know where electricity and electric comes from? data?
- starting conversation with the light switch - the things we cannot see.
- understanding how to talk about fibre cabling and routing of data
- data can be manipulated, how we can learn to cross reference information
- the future of you in advertising, metrics, analytics and work
i'm going to building a much bigger course next year, breaking down this conversation into a better, well formed course about steps we can take to educate as we go, so they can take part and share in dialog about this brave new, on demand and live streaming world. . .
get some ideas/tips all in less than 20 minutes!
